- Athena SWAN Charter
- Liverpool John Moores University joined the Athena SWAN charter in 2014 and was first presented with an Institutional Bronze award in 2014, in recognition of ongoing work relating to gender equality. Since then, LJMU had a second successful submission of their Institutional Bronze award in 2017.
- Bambi's Breastfeeding Friendly Charter
- LJMU was awarded the Liverpool Bambis Breastfeeding Friendly Mayoral Award in June 2022. The award recognises commitment to supporting staff, students and visitors who are breastfeeding their children to feel welcome to do so across campus buildings.
- Race Equality Charter (REC)
- LJMU joined the Race Equality charter in 2022 and was first presented with an Institutional Bronze Award in 2022, in recognition of ongoing work relating to race equality.

- Stonewall
- In 2022, LJMU renewed their Diversity Champions membership, to ensure the continuation of our LGBTQI+ staff feeling free to be themselves and to continue the work to increase the feeling of belongingness.
- Navajo
- The Navajo Merseyside and Cheshire LGBTIQA+ Charter Mark is an equality mark sponsored by In-Trust Merseyside and supported by the LGBTIQA+ Community networks across Merseyside - a signifier of good practice, commitment and knowledge of the specific needs, issues and barriers facing LGBTIQA+ people in Merseyside.

- BAME Acronym
- Following a university wide survey and subsequent focus groups, ‘ethnically diverse’ or ‘ethnic minority’ are to replace the use of BAME across the university.

- LGBTQI+ Flags
- In 1978 gay rights activist Gilbert Baker created the first Pride flag with the goal of it being a symbol for everyone. Since then many new flags were created to represent all communities within the LGBTQI+ community.

- The University Funded Diversity and Inclusion Scheme
- The University Funded Diversity and Inclusion scheme is a pot of money set aside to provide grants for supporting research initiatives across the University.
- Associate Deans for Diversity and Inclusion
- The purpose of the Associate Deans for Diversity and Inclusion is to support the University in driving forward the diversity and inclusion agenda at Faculty and Professional Services level and ensure local issues inform the diversity and inclusion overall approach.
- Ethnically Diverse Staff Network
- The LJMU Ethnically Diverse Staff Network is open to staff whom identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, in the first instance.
- Staff Disability Network
- The LJMU Staff Disability Network is open to staff whom identify as having a disability (physical, hidden, mental and long-term health conditions), in the first instance.
- LJMU Together LGBTQI+ Staff Network
- LJMU Together (LGBTIQ+) Staff Network supports the strategic aim of being a University where each person is respected equally and where diversity is embraced.
- Women Academics Network
- The University Women Academics Network (WAN) is for all female academics at Professorial, Reader and Pre-Reader (AKA: Early Career Researcher) level.

- The University Women in the Professional services (WPS) is for all female staff in professional services at all levels.
- Women in Professional Services Network
- The LJMU Women Professors Network is for all female academics at Professorial level.
- Admin and Executive Support Network
- The Admin and Executive Support Network is aimed at all internal administrative staff in roles such as (but not exclusive to) Personal Assistant, Executive Support Officer and Faculty Administrator from across the university.
- Calibre Leadership Programme
- Calibre is a CPD accredited development and leadership programme for people who identify as neurodiverse, Deaf or disabled, or who have a long-term physical or mental health condition.
- Diversity and Inclusion e-Learning
- These Diversity and Inclusion e-Learning resources are available to all LJMU Staff and Students, providing you with valuable information on various topics, and keeping you updated with relevant information and supporting materials.
- Training, workshops and events
- LJMU’s Diversity and Inclusion Team are proud to be working in partnership with an array of diversity and inclusion training specialists and subject matter experts, in order to offer the opportunity to participate in workshops and training.
- Nia Programme
- Adopting the Swahili name ‘Nia,’ meaning ‘purpose’, the programme was delivered by The King’s Fund to help create an inspiring and motivating career vision for colleagues. Staff registered on the virtual three-day programme received individual 1:1 personal coaching sessions.
- Positive Action Training
- In September 2021, a new scheme, Positive Action Training (PAT) was launched by the Vice-Chancellor Mark Power which focused in helping local people of colour to enter employment at LJMU.
- Reciprocal Mentoring Programme
- Developed in partnership with JMSU, our reciprocal mentoring programme matched current students with the university management team with lifechanging results.
