The course covers a wide range of business skills and provides the opportunity to build and test knowledge in the real world. You will learn how to turn ideas into viable businesses, how to communicate and sell to customers, how to think creatively and work collaboratively in a team and how to lead and manage a business venture. The skills and experience you will gain throughout the course will enable you to think and act entrepreneurially in a wide range of contexts.

Your personal development is also at the centre of the programmes design and structure. The transferable skills you will acquire combined with your experience of starting and running a business will position you well within the competitive graduate market.

Based on the successful Finnish Team Academy, this programme is very different from your traditional degree; instead of attending lectures you will be learning by applying business skills. Liverpool Business School is the first business school in the North West to offer this type of degree course.

"The Applied Entrepreneurship programme is very different from your traditional business degree course. Students on the course learn through running their own businesses and working to real project briefs in a collaborative team environment. Through this process, students develop important skills such as resilience, motivation, teamwork, creativity and problem solving, which will enable them to make a significant impact in a range of business settings."

Teaching and work-related learning

Excellent facilities and learning resources

Team Enterprise Lab is a dedicated open learning space specially for this course. You will have access to collaborative working hubs to work on projects and interact with the local business community. This space is located in the newly built Hardman House

You will also engage with the business community through regular live project work, guest speaker sessions and masterclasses. Regular workshops focusing on various aspects of business will be delivered by the programme team and guest lecturers in response to the needs of the teams and their ventures. Reflective learning is a key part of the course. It enables you to become competent in evaluating your own effectiveness and reflecting on the strategies you could implement in order to improve.

Support and guidance

Dedicated personal tutor, plus study skills support

Team coaching approach

To support students in their business activities and associated self-directed learning, a coaching approach and structure is adopted across all levels of the course. Three hour coaching sessions involving the whole team take place twice a week and each team is assigned a specific coach for the duration of the programme. The role of the coach in the coaching sessions is to help the team define their objectives and action plans in relation to their business activities and personal development and to support students to take ownership of the learning required to achieve them.

In addition to team coaching sessions, students will also engage in personal tutorials with their coach throughout each year. These sessions focus on personal development and provide the opportunity to discuss and address issues related to academic performance, engagement and progress.
